Good morning all! Welcome to a brand new week, and a brand new Member Monday! We are delighted to bring you this week’s instalment, Highland Business Women’s very own Charity Ambassador, Iris Thompson-Burton:
I relocated home to Scotland 5 years ago, for a better work life balance after a decade or so working in London.
I originally trained and qualified as an Environmental Health Officer, then took a career change to Business development and business mentoring across the private and third sectors. Supporting charities & start up businesses and helping shape their governance. I continue to support and mentor start up businesses.
My current role is as the Operations Director for Highland-Escape.com, managing an award winning stunning luxury holiday home and wedding venue on the banks of Loch Ness at The Old Manse and Bona Church, at Lochend. I’m passionate about regenerative tourism and showcasing the Highlands and all it has to offer.
I joined HBW as a member in late 2019, and was welcomed as a newcomer with such support and positivity, it is lovely to meet a friendly group of such accomplished women and to find a group that celebrates our successes and supports each other. In February 2024, I joined the HBW board as the charity ambassador, and I’m proud to be championing our charity of the year and supporting them as much as we can.
I can usually be found all year round dooking in any cold bodies of water, it’s my happy place, and my little bit of sanity!
