Good afternoon all on this lovely bright Monday! It’s our favourite time of the week and with that we are pleased to bring you another instalment of our Member Monday feature! This week we are delighted to hear from HBW member, Becky Hindley of Saffery LLP:
I was born in Manchester, but after many years of visiting the Highlands my husband and I decided to relocate, due to our love of the wildlife and scenery. We spent 4 years living on South Uist, 7 years in Moray, and have lived in Inverness for the last 9 years.
The move to the Islands meant putting my career on pause for a while. Once we moved back to the mainland I began 5 years of studying to become both a qualified accountant and chartered tax advisor.
I began working as an assistant manager for Saffery in September 2021, and was promoted to manager in October 2022. My role involves managing a portfolio of clients, and providing a wide range of services including; accounts, tax, book-keeping, VAT, management accounts and advisory services. Each day is different, which keeps the job both interesting and challenging.
In addition to working for such a well respected and supportive firm, there are many enjoyable aspects to my job, such as working as part of a great team, dealing with a varied mix of clients, and having opportunities to meet many interesting people through organisations such as Highland Business Women.
I particularly enjoy helping clients to gain a better understanding of how their businesses are performing financially. I strive to improve the services we provide to our clients, and aim to give additional information and insight to help them plan and structure their businesses for the future. Each client has different requirements, and I enjoy learning about their businesses and helping them to grow.
